FOR APPOINTMENTS CALL
Urgent cases will be seen on the day, please telephone our appointments line as early as possible if you need to be seen on the day. These appointments will normally be seen by our Nurse Practitioner to free up more doctor appointments for those with long term or complex conditions.
If you are given an URGENT appointment, this is to deal with ONE SPECIFIC PROBLEM that cannot wait until the next available routine appointment.
Consultations with doctors are by appointment bookable in advance.
You can book, cancel or check your appointment on-line via our website 24hrs a day and 7 days a week. You will need to register for this service, forms are available at reception or you can download them (click here to download,EMIS Access form). Once you have completed the form you will need to bring it to the surgery with both photo ID such as Driving license/passport/student card and proof of your address; bank statement/bill. It can take up to2 weeks to register you for this service and you will need to pick up your personal identification number (PIN) form the practice.
You can also book, cancel or check your appointment using your telephone keypad by phoning the practice and selecting "Option 1". You may also phone the practice on the above number and speak to a receptionist.
As Monday morning is one of our busiest times, it would be helpful if you could avoid telephoning then for non-urgent appointments and enquiries.
GP Appointment Slots
Our doctors have 10 minute appointments. This enables us to maximise the number of routine appointments we can offer. However, it means that in order to give each problem the attention it requires, we cannot deal with several problems in one appointment. You will need to book another appointment if you have another condition you would like to be seen about. We reserve the right to ask you to re-book should you arrive late.
All nurse appointments are bookable in advance and for 10 minutes. There are certain conditions that require longer than 10 minutes, please therefore advise reception if booking for the following:
- Asthma/Diabetes/COPD annual reviews
- Antenatal care
- Minor Surgery
If you are unable to keep your appointment, even at the last minute, please let us know. This enables us to offer the appointment to another patient and makes the appointment system work more efficiently.
You can now do this using our text service when reminded of your appointment by texting back "CANCEL".
'Did Not Attend' Policy
If a patient fails to attend a pre-booked appointment on more than two occasions in the previous 12 months, an informal warning letter will be sent to the patient, advising them that a further occurrence could risk removal from the practice.
If the patient fails to attend another appointment within the12 months period, the matter will be discussed at a practice meeting and a decision will be made as to whether the patient will be removed from the practice list, in which case a formal letter will be issued.
